You want a professional to provide service. If you are not experienced in their field, how can you know you are
hiring the best service for the job? Consider posing the following questions to your photography provider.
Ask your photographer about their style. Common styles are defined as: traditional, candid, artistic,
photojournalistic, or formal.
Ask them if they shoot in color or black and white. Is getting both varieties a possibility?
Does the photographer take suggestions? Can they take shots from a prepared list of requests?
Sometimes the representative you meet may not be the one doing the photos. Be sure to meet with the person that
will be your photographer for the event.
Depending on the size and nature of the event, a photographer may work with assistants. Ask if that is a
possibility, and if so, if you may meet with them beforehand.
Ask the potential photographer about their experience. Have they worked your variety of event before? Have they
serviced an event of the same size?
Ask the photographer if they have any other jobs that day or weekend. Think about whether there may be any
conflicts.
Ask about their equipment. Will any of the equipment create an intrusion to guests or serve as an eye sore?
Ask the photographer about film development. Extra charges may apply. In addition, you may want a copy of the
negatives for yourself.
Receive quotes from at least three different service providers before making the final decision. In addition, ask
the photography service for references.
